Search, identify and keep up

Google is the Android app for searching the web, asking questions and finding information from text, images or sound. It suits people who want a single place to look things up, whether they are checking a fact, identifying something in front of them or following topics they care about. The app is published by Google LLC.

More than a search box

Type or speak a query to search. Google Lens can use a camera image to help identify objects, translate visible text or work through maths problems. If a tune is stuck in your head, Hum to Search lets you try identifying it by humming. On supported devices, Circle to Search can look up content shown on screen without first switching away from the app you are using.

Search results may also include AI-generated summaries and options to ask follow-up questions. The Discover feed is another part of the app: it surfaces articles and updates based on your interests. What appears can vary by device, region and availability, so these tools may not be identical for everyone.

A widely used everyday tool

Google has a 4.07-star rating from about 28.9 million ratings and more than 10 billion installs. Those figures point to an app used at enormous scale, though they do not guarantee that every feature or result will suit every user. It is listed in the Tools category, rather than as a game, and is best suited to quick searches and visual or voice-based lookups on Android.
