Creatures of the Deep: Fishing is an adventure game about travelling to fishing spots, casting a line and finding out what is hiding below. It suits players who like the steady rhythm of fishing games but want more to explore than a series of catches: the waters hold unusual creatures, lost objects and stories to uncover.
Rather than sticking to one kind of lake or coastline, the game takes you through varied locations, from tropical islands to more unsettling waters. Your catch might be a familiar fish, a rare find or something far stranger. Discoveries give each new spot a reason to keep exploring.
As you fish, you can improve your equipment and customise your character. There are also side activities beyond casting: quests and tournaments offer goals to work towards, while monster hunts put a more unusual spin on the usual fishing challenge. If you prefer to take things at your own pace, the locations and catches still give you plenty to investigate without making every session a contest.
Players looking for a social angle can compete against others, join a clan and take part in shared challenges. The game also includes a camp and aquarium to develop, adding a longer-term layer to the fishing and exploration.
The mix of calm fishing and strange underwater discoveries is the game’s main appeal. It can suit a short visit to check a quest or a longer session spent trying new spots and improving your gear. There is also an environmental thread: collecting rubbish and helping restore the water gives some activities a purpose beyond filling your collection.
Creatures of the Deep: Fishing is listed in the Adventure category. Infinite Dreams is the developer, and the game has more than 1,000,000 installs. Its 4.6-star rating, from over 263,000 ratings, suggests a sizeable audience has taken to its blend of fishing, exploration and competition.
